CMA INTER

The CMA Intermediate course, offered by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI), is the second level of the Cost and Management Accountancy program. It provides in-depth knowledge of cost and management accounting, tax, and related areas to aspiring CMAs. Here’s a quick overview of the admission process and subjects according to the 2022 syllabus:


Admission Process

Eligibility: Candidates must have:

  • Passed the CMA Foundation examination, or
  • Graduated in any discipline (except Fine Arts) from a recognized university.


Registration: Registration can be done online through the ICAI website. For the June term, registration should be completed by January 31st, and for the December term, by July 31st.


Documents Required:

  • CMA Foundation mark sheet or graduation certificate
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Recent passport-size photographs


Study Material: After registration, candidates will receive study materials to help prepare for the examination.


Examination: The CMA Intermediate exam is conducted twice a year, in June and December. Candidates must clear both groups to move on to the CMA Final course.


Subjects (Syllabus 2022):

The CMA Intermediate course is divided into two groups, each with four papers:

Group 1:

  1. Paper 5: Business Lawa & Ethics (BLE)
  2. Paper 6: Financial Accounting (FA)
  3. Paper 7: Direct And Indirect Taxation  (DITX)
  4. Paper 8: Cost Accounting (CA)


Group 2:

  1. Paper 9  : Operations Management & Strategic Management (OMSM)
  2. Paper 10: Corporate Accounting & Auditing (CAA)
  3. Paper 11: Financial Management & Business Data Analytics (FMDA)
  4. Paper 12: Management Accounting (MA)


These subjects are designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and prepare candidates for the advanced level challenges of the CMA Final course.
